The foundation stone for a sprawling Eco Park at Kothwalguda was laid by the Minister, who also inaugurated the Landscape Eco Park at Osman Sagar. The Eco Park at Kothwalguda is set to house India’s largest aquarium, aviary, and a scenic boardwalk, adding to Hyderabad's growing list of green spaces and tourist attractions.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to developing Hyderabad and the State while taking into account the rising population density in the coming decades. In order to ensure a sustainable water supply, he mentioned that water is being sourced from the Krishna and Godavari rivers, reducing the city's dependence on the historic Gandipet reservoir for drinking water.
One of the key announcements was the withdrawal of Government Order (GO) 111, which previously restricted developmental activities in 84 villages around the Osmansagar and Himayatsagar reservoirs. This move, the Minister explained, was in response to persistent requests from local residents and elected representatives. He highlighted that earlier governments, including the BJP and Congress, had promised to revoke the order but failed to take action.
Additionally, the Minister directed Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) officials to initiate more development projects in the Rajendra Nagar assembly constituency. He urged the local elected representatives to cooperate with HMDA officials in removing encroachments along nalas to prevent flooding and improve infrastructure in the area.
The Eco Park projects at Kothwalguda and Osman Sagar are expected to bolster Hyderabad’s reputation as a growing urban center with a focus on ecological and recreational developments.
