Hyderabad, September 19, 2024 – The eastern corridor of Hyderabad is set to receive a significant infrastructure boost with the state government planning to develop a new software park and a world-class convention centre. The announcement was made by Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister, D. Sridhar Babu, at the inauguration of the CREDAI Property Show near the Nagole Metro station on Thursday. The developments aim to bring the eastern part of Hyderabad on par with the highly developed western and southern regions of the city.
Expansion of Metro Connectivity to ORR
In a strategic move to enhance connectivity, Minister Sridhar Babu revealed that the Metro Rail network will be extended to the Outer Ring Road (ORR). This will provide a seamless transit option for residents and businesses, reducing travel time and easing congestion in the eastern areas of the city. The expanded Metro network is expected to attract more real estate investments, making the region a prime destination for homebuyers and businesses alike.
Development of a Fourth City in 15,000 Acres
Another major highlight of the government’s plan is the creation of a "Fourth City" spanning over 15,000 acres in eastern Hyderabad. This ambitious project will include state-of-the-art infrastructure and planned residential and commercial developments. The new city will accommodate industries, housing projects, educational institutions, and entertainment facilities, contributing to the overall economic growth of the region.
Skill University and Sports University in the Pipeline
In a bid to address the growing demand for skilled manpower, the state government has also proposed the establishment of a Skill University in the eastern zone. This institution will focus on providing training in trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and other allied sectors, creating a steady pipeline of skilled labor for various industries. Additionally, a Sports University is also being planned to cater to the city’s growing sports and recreational needs.
Semiconductor Industries and Five-Star Hotels Coming Soon
To further boost the industrial landscape, Minister Sridhar Babu announced that semiconductor industries would be set up in the eastern region, which is likely to position Hyderabad as a key player in the global semiconductor supply chain. Alongside this, the government is actively promoting the establishment of five-star hotels in the region. An agency will soon be appointed to conduct a feasibility study for these luxury hotels, adding a new dimension to the hospitality and tourism sector in eastern Hyderabad.
CREDAI’s Role in Eastern Hyderabad’s Growth
The event also saw active participation from the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI). The organization is expected to collaborate with the state government in shaping the Skill University’s programs, especially for the real estate and construction sectors. At the inauguration, CREDAI-Hyderabad President Rajashekar Reddy expressed optimism about the growth prospects of eastern Hyderabad, highlighting the role of Metro rail connectivity and rapid transit flyovers in making the region more accessible.
"The eastern zone is becoming increasingly attractive for prospective homebuyers due to the improved infrastructure. The expansion of the Metro and other transit projects are key factors contributing to this rise in demand," Reddy remarked.
