Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, October 28 (Namaste Telangana): The state government has officially established the Yadadri Bhuvanagiri Urban Development Authority (YUDA) to accelerate urban development within the Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. Principal Secretary of the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department, M. Dana Kishore, issued the Government Order (GO) formalizing YUDA's establishment.
Under this new authority, two municipalities and 144 villages will be incorporated into YUDA's jurisdiction, marking a significant shift for local governance. Consequently, many municipalities and village panchayats in the district are expected to function with limited responsibilities, as the YUDA will now oversee most urban planning and development activities in the region.
The district, already home to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and the Yadagirigutta Temple Development Authority (YTDA), now sees the addition of YUDA. Positioned near Hyderabad, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district has a predominantly urban landscape, with 17 mandals and six municipalities, some of which are under HMDA and YTDA’s purview.
In its continued effort to promote urbanization across Telangana, the government aims to establish Urban Development Authorities (UDAs) in various districts. Following these guidelines, local officials proposed creating YUDA, drawing from HMDA's successful development of Hyderabad’s surrounding areas. As per the GO, YUDA’s jurisdiction includes two municipalities and ten mandals comprising 144 villages.
Key regions incorporated into YUDA are:
• Aler and Mothkur Municipalities
• Select villages across Yadagirigutta, Aler, Atmakur (M), Mothkur, Rajapet, Ramannapet, Valigonda, Motakondur, and Gundala mandals.
The YTDA will continue its operations within certain areas in Yadagirigutta and Bhuvanagiri, while YUDA’s formation paves the way for more comprehensive urban planning, infrastructure upgrades, and overall regional development in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri.
